During a three week trip around the whole beautiful island of SL, a friend and I had only one brief night pencilled in at Forest Rock Garden during our time in the Cultural Triangle. Scratch further however and the rooms are lacklustre without style. Our suite with plunge pool was ok but the plastic leather office style sofa in the living room and fake walls encasing the concrete pool area were functional and lacked any kind of finesse.
My biggest warning however is to anybody who ops as we did, for a traditional Ayurvedic massage. The little room just off the pool is very isolated which I mean, WTF?! Our horror at our experience was immediately reported reported that night to the manager who seemed appropriately shocked and apologised.
You can therefore imagine our further dismay when at check out the following morning we were duly informed by the front of desk manager that only one massage would be removed from our bill and the second would be charged! I was assured that the M. I have subsequently been contacting the hotel on a daily basis since we checked out, which is now a week ago, and still have yet to receive any form of communication back.
I use this opportunity to invite Mr Chandrasiri to contact me, privately, as I believe this matter is significantly serious and the hotel have provided zero assurance that future guests are free from risk from a predatory individual.
I have fallen in love with SL and can recommend many other hotels that do this exquisite island justice see other reviews. A wonderful, quirky hotel all on one level elevated above and in the jungle. Constant bird noises, multiple sightings of wildlife. Very restful. Sri Lankan food excellent. Good choice of western dishes. Loved the place and the atmosphere there. But the standards with regard to cleanliness and food quality have gone down drastically.
